Welcome to the 2014 tropical weather season. In less than a month, the season will start, and as I promised last year, I will try to publish a day-to-day account of what is happening.
To start off the season I offer a link to the Tropical Meteorology Project at the University Of Colorado and to an interactive probability calculator of tropical weather activity along the coastal regions of the United States.
Note that the calculator shows a very low probability of a hurricane landfall along coastal Glynn County. There is only a .2% chance of a hurricane and .5% chance of a named storm. This does not mean we can take our eyes off of the horizon; forecasts can and have been very wrong.
